Lakewood Club at the Grand Hotel has two Championship Courses, Dogwood and Azalea Course. They've been through renovations and hurricanes and still remain a showcase for great golf in the South. The original 18 holes were built in 1947 by legendary golf course architect Perry Maxwell. Later expanded to 36 holes, Lakewood Club at the Grand Hotel enjoys breezes from the adjacent Mobile Bay while showcasing fairways winding through stands of towering Southern Pine and 200-year-old Live Oaks. The varying degree of difficulty promises a memorable golf experience for both the novice and the experienced golfer alike. The Dogwood course, which recently hosted the 59th U.S. Women's Senior Amateur Championship, was completely renovated in 2018, while the Azalea course was renovated and reopened in November 2019. The new designs feature gorgeous TifEagle Ultradwarf greens that lend themselves to superb year-round conditions. Lakewood Club has been named several times to GOLF Magazine's Best Golf Resorts in America.
